30 Cadets from Scotland and Nothern Ireland arrived at Carronvale House for this years Leadership for Life Course. Of the 30 Cadets 6 from 383 (Alloa) Sqn, Edinburgh and South Scotland Wing were some of the first to arrive.

Border Union Show 2010 - "Team Borders" Cadets from 1007,1716DF, 1716 & 2180 with a BIG Tractor!

Putting local sporting rivalries aside Cadets from all of the Air Cadet Squadrons in The Scottish Borders joined together for a recruitment campaign at the biggest public event in the area - The Border Union Show.

A FIRST FOR S&NI AT RIAT 2010

Two Cadets from Scotland & Northern Ireland Region attended thev Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford as part of the Communications Team. Flt Sgt F Christie from Aberdeen Wing and Flt Sgt R MacLeod of Edinburgh & South Scotland Wing were the two cadest from S&NI. Both left from Stirling on Monday 12 July 2010 on a 9 hour journey to RAF Fairford. in Gloucestershire. Sta rting on Tuesday 13 July until Tuesday 20 July, up at 0530 Hrs until 2230 Hrs on a shift cycle of 2 Hrs on 2 Hrs off they helped control the movements of staff, transport, Cadets, ground Opps and the like for the whole site.

Both agreed that RIAT was an experience of a lifetime - an activity that the Corps should be very proud off. A great deal of responsibilty is put on the shoulders of the Cadets and Staff who have a massive role to play at this event. One of the best parts of the event was being allowed to get up close to the many aircraft and speak to the crews from different countries. Flt Sgt MacLeod said " the ultimate was getting access to the F22 Raptor and speaking to the Aircrew, this was the first time the F22 Raptor has been on display at RIAT".

Cadets collected memorabilia using an exchange system utilising the many parts of their uniform. this proved to be very successful and many items were exchanged.

Both Flt Sgt Christie and Flt Sgt MacLeod said "We have made many new friends from all over the country and look forward to seeing them in the furture. If you are offered the chance to go to RIAT then we recommend that you do as this is one of the greatest experiences the Corps has to offer".

MACH 2010

Cadets and Staff from Edinburgh and South Scotland Wing joined up with their comrades from across the Region at MACH 2010 week 1 at JHC FS Aldergrove.

All enjoyed the week which include a visit to Belfast and a tour of the most troubled areas including a visit to see the murals painted on the sides of the houses.

All the Cadets and Staff had a great time renewing aquaintances and making new ones.

Edinburgh Wing – Top Rope Climbers

Three cadets from Edinburgh & South Scotland Wing have become the first cadets to complete the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme Level Two certificate.

The level two certificate recognises them as competent independent climbers both in bouldering and artificial climbing walls.
