The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a uniformed, air related, national youth organisation, which encourages a practical interest in aviation, adventure and sport as well as providing training which will be useful to young people, especially those interested in a career in aviation and in the Services.
Such training builds self-confidence and knowledge, which in turn develops leaders and good citizens. The organisation is open to boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 18, and centres around local Squadrons of between 20 and 50 cadets.
Most Squadrons carry out regular meetings and training on 2 evenings a week, normally between 19:30 and 21:30, with other activities carried out at weekends and at times convenient to staff and cadets.
The Aims of the Air Training Corps are:
- To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
- To provide training which will be useful in the Services as well as civilian life.
- To foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.
