Training Introduction
Cadets in the ATC receive instruction in the following subjects, which are a selection of those available
Each stage of training culminates in an exam in each subject. The cadet has also to undertake a minimum of 25 Hrs project work towards each exam.
1st CLASS CADET
At the Basic (1st Class) cadet level you will study :
You will also undertake 25 Hours of project work and the exam will be set by the squadron.
LEADING CADET
At this level you study the following 3 subjects:
Again 25 Hours project work will be undertaken, and this time the multiple choice exam in each subject (25 Questions) is set by HQ Air Cadets.
On successful completion you will be awarded the badge shown.
SENIOR CADET
At this level you can select 2 subjects from the following list:
Again 25 Hours project work will be undertaken, and once more the multiple choice exam in each subject (25 Questions) is set by HQ Air Cadets.
On successful completion you will be awarded the badge shown.
STAFF CADET
Part 1:
At this level you can select 2 subjects from the following list:
Again 25 Hours project work will be undertaken, and once more the multiple choice exam in each subject (25 Questions) is set by HQ Air Cadets.
Part 2:
As a trainee instructor on the unit you will have to prepare and deliver a 10 - 15 minute presentation on a subject of your choice, which will be assessed.
There is also an oral examination of your knowledge of the Air Training Corps.
On successful completion of both parts you will be awarded the lanyard shown.
As a Senior cadet you may sit either Part 1 or Part 2 after you reach 15 Yrs 6 Months but you cannot complete both parts before your 16th birthday.

- History of Flight
- Airmanship I

- Principles of Flight
- Airmanship II

At this level you can select 2 subjects from the following list:- Air Navigation
- Propulsion
- Aircraft Handling
- Advanced Radio / Radar

STAFF CADET
Part 1:At this level you can select 2 subjects from the following list:
- Pilot Navigation
- Airframes
- Operational Flying
- Satellite Comms
Again 25 Hours project work will be undertaken, and once more the multiple choice exam in each subject (25 Questions) is set by HQ Air Cadets.
Part 2:
As a trainee instructor on the unit you will have to prepare and deliver a 10 - 15 minute presentation on a subject of your choice, which will be assessed.
