BTEC

What is BTEC?

BTEC is a VOCATIONAL educational qualification based on the work that you do as a Cadet in the ATC. Because it is vocational in nature, most of the activities are fun to undertake and do not take up too much time to complete.

What support will I get?You will attend 4 weekend training camps plus a First Aid Course. Though you do not have to attend these, you will get on much better and much quicker if you do!

What do I need to do?

6 modules – most of which you have done already!!!
Your flying, gliding, shooting, camps and DoE all count as module activity as do specialist courses like parachuting.
Some written work is needed, hence the weekend training camps. Detailed information can be viewed on the CVQO website

What is this worth to me?

4 extra Standard Grades. All employers, whether service or civilian, really value vocational qualifications – it means that they know that you have “hands on” experience.

How will it end?

With a graduation parade plus an award certificate – that can also be used to support an application through UCAS.

How do I apply?

Via Your ATC Squadron.   Applications have to be in to Wing HQ by 31st July each year.

Do I need to be clever to be able to do this?

Absolutely not…but you must be motivated enough to work on your own at times.
